Growing native plants fornow and the future
Hamilton Trees is located on the Grange Burn in Kennedy StHamilton. This historic nursery has been in continuous operation since the 1930s.
Hamilton Trees has always been the place to go for a wide range of native Australian plants, but now also offers a special range of trees, shrubs and grasses that are indigenous to the south west of Victoria.
WHO ARE WE
Owner/Manager Colin Dunkley brings a wealth of natural resources experience to the nursery, including ten years as CEO of the Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority.
“My aim is to provide individualised service to landholders across the Hamilton district. My business is all about planting the right native vegetation in the right location for the required purpose. Planned correctly, trees will provide habitat for wildlife, help protect stock and present a range of other benefits to landscapes.”
At peak season (spring), the nursery holds up to 100,000 plants, and can cater for all planning and tree growing – whether it is 10 hectares or 1000.
OUR BUSINESS
Caring for our plants, caring for the environment
Hamilton Trees has recently installed a new and efficient automatic watering system that waters plants only to the amount they need. This new system provides optimal growing and hardening off conditions with the least amount of water use.
All plants are grown in Hico and Lanin cells on above-ground benches to protect against frost and out of reach of any pests.
